Residential house №2 in Sabanskij Lane - in an architecture monument - was destroyed during post-war time and served as a city decoration for a long time. This is M.G. Povstanjuk's project which is organically inserted into a historical building picture but also answers modern standards from functional angle. This work was recognized as the best work of 1996 in Ukraine and also won the first degree diploma of the architects Union of Ukraine. The construction plan follows the shape of the land and is built of red brick. As the basis of planning the composition was taken of its laid-sectional diagram of the corridor. Center of the composition is the broad marble staircase, directed to the lobby. On the eve of the revolution of 1917 the hotel had only 75 rooms, but their quality was equal to the quality of the first-class rooms of other hotels in the city. The building of hotel "Bolshaya Moskovskaya", designed by the famous Odessa architect L. Vlodek, is the most vivid example of the architectural style of the Art Nouveau in Odessa. Facades design of "Bolshaya Moskovskaya" impress with imagination, picturesque and ductility. With a variety of forms of window openings, large shop windows on the ground floor create the feel of light and movement, which characterize Art Nouveau styl. Changing balcony fencing pattern accentuates and emphasizes the picturesque stucco decor. The whole wide range of decorative elements, that are splashed out on a facade, is connected by one idea - a celebration of the god Mercury Trade. It was his mask with wings on his helmet and caduceus adorned the broad pilasters plane on the second floor, and the mask, corner pilasters crowning of the building symbolized his lover - Herse. Thanks to the originality of the forms and expressive composition "Bolshaya Moskovskaya" hotel building has become one of the most interesting architectural objects in the building of the street Deribasovskaya.
Restoration of facades with a reconstruction of existing and lost decor elements. The building divides into 3 basic functional volumes: hotel, trading premises, bars, restaurants. The building was constructed in 1898-1899, by: L.L.Vlodek(architect), T.L. Fishel and S.I. Milman (sculptors).[/text_dd][/column_dd][/section_dd]
